Protecting the health and safety of Fountain City residents is the most important duty of City government. To that end the Mayor has issued a Proclamation of Emergency, putting into effect a State of Emergency for the City of Fountain City. We join with other municipalities, large and small, across the state who are taking this same step. Attached is a copy of the Proclamation.
What does this mean?
– Effective immediately all public use of the Auditorium is suspended until further notice. If you are in possession of a key to the auditorium we are requesting you immediately return that key to City Hall.
– City Hall is still open, however if your needs can be met via phone or email please chose that option first. We understand with an election in less than three weeks there may be no other option than an in person visit. If so be assured every step is being taken to ensure a healthy environment.
– The meeting of the Common Council scheduled for Monday, March 23, 2020 at 6:30 p.m. WILL be taking place. However, the meeting will held using a video/audio teleconferencing service. The meeting will be in compliance with open meeting laws, and the public will be able to join the meeting, listen, and comment during the Citizen comment period.
In regards to the Council meeting, tomorrow we will post the agenda, instructions on how the public may join the meeting, and guidelines for conduct of a teleconference meeting.
Please know this doesn’t mean we are panicking, we are merely making sure we have the tools in place to take any measures necessary to keep our community safe. We trust in the resilience of our residents and the belief that together we will weather this storm.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to City Hall at 608-687-7481.
