Fountain City has been awarded $1,707,800 through the Wisconsin Department of Administration’s Flexible Facilities Program (FFP). This grant will fund the renovation of the historic Fountain City Auditorium, transforming it into a modern community center and public library space to serve the community’s growing needs.
The renovation will include upgraded infrastructure, HVAC, and wiring to meet current standards for accessibility, safety, energy efficiency, and security. Handicapped accessible restrooms will be added, and the building will feature a healthcare monitoring room to support telemedicine services and other health-related needs. The project will also include the installation of a new elevator providing access to all floors. Additionally, the new space will support high-speed broadband with Wi-Fi access throughout, new computers, modern meeting rooms, and expanded library facilities, ensuring all residents have access to vital online resources.
The renovated auditorium will feature multiple multipurpose rooms designed for workshops, training centers, and community events, further contributing to workforce development and social engagement in the area. The expanded library will provide enhanced educational resources with dedicated work and study spaces, modern digital tools, and new technology, making it a hub for learning and growth.
This project will enhance services that improve the quality of life for all community members, particularly those with limited access to educational, healthcare, and workforce support resources. The updated center will offer a robust library, multipurpose rooms for education and work, and spaces for social and recreational activities critical to fostering community engagement.
Construction is expected to begin in 2025, with completion anticipated by late 2026.
