Fountain City’s Public Space Planning Project continues to make great progress, and we are delighted to share this update with you. Participation is our community survey was exceptional and included responses from 128 of our local residents and students. This was followed by better-than-expected turnout of 25 participants for in-person, targeted focus group meetings at City Hall and Cochrane-Fountain City Junior/High School. We are deeply grateful to all our community members who took the time to include their voices in this effort. We extend particular thanks to all who showed up for our in-person focus groups. We know your time is limited and we appreciate your valuable investment in the future of Fountain City.
While the survey responses and focus group data are still being analyzed, we want to provide you with a snapshot of the initial survey results, available via the link below. This information will help to prioritize and sequence the project’s final recommendations we’ll be presenting to the community, later this spring. The next steps for our project team will be to begin modeling different scenarios for our public and city-owned properties and spaces, with specific attention to the preferences of community members, cost, and likely ease of completing each alternative. There will be lots more to come, including updates and opportunities to get involved, so please stay tuned. Thanks again for your engagement thus far.
As a reminder, The City of Fountain City, in collaboration with 4th Coast Consulting and faculty members and students from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire, is actively engaged in a project to guide long-term planning for the use, accessibility, and connectedness of public and city-owned spaces.
